Bill Anderson Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I'm headed to RR for a few hours in the morning. I'll make a post afterwards. I have a friend, a Jewish carpenter, whom you should get to know. If you do, your life will never be the same.
timsfly Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Water is looking good, i caught 7 this morning in about an hour, the clearest water is up close to the spring, lots of nice fish were caught this past weekend. I caught mine on copper johns, chamois worms and pheasant tail this morning. Zack Hoyt Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Fished Saturday with clients and did well. Chamois worms and larger prince nymphs. Water was quick, so split shot was needed. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Members Switchfly Posted May 10, 2011 Members Posted May 10, 2011 Fished today and did well(after stopping by to see Tim) Caught 23 for the day (my girlfriend caught 11). I fished a pheasant tail followed by a copper john and flat tore them up. Caught a good deal of my fish in the fly only/C&R only zone. Parts of the C&R zone were a bit snakey, which caused my girlfriend to "request" that we head back into the main area of the park.
Jack Jones Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I do seem to recall wading in the C/R section and the sound of one of those entering the water. I don't know which was faster....the ripple heading towards me or me splashing towards the bank. Got to watch them snakes. I know most aren't poisonous, but I'm no expert and I'm not looking to find out. timsfly Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Those snakes are great, they will jump out on your shoulders in the summer, they will bite into your neck and hold on, those snakes are mean, but the saber toothed sunfish, and the saber toothed bullfrogs scare me more than those snakes, happy wading, the snakes are even worse on CRANE!!!!!!!!!!!! JCWolfe Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I saw several snakes when I was there last week. Most were in zone 2 catch and release. Okiemountaineer
timsfly Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 The snakes are getting more aggressive everyday, it is great fun when they fall out of the trees and land on or near you, makes for a very exciting day of fishing, just don't hum while you fish, it will attract the bigger snakes. River is in great shape. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop

River is in great shape. I'm thinking of coming down tomorrow regardless of the rain. I need any excuse to fish my new Sage. Tim- any advice for fishing in the rain?
