Members Fredrick Posted April 29, 2011 Members Posted April 29, 2011 I went to the dam area today. I drove down by the boat launch. The water was just as high was the picture in the other topic. I threw a little nipper white 1/32 ounce jig. And I hooked something it was a 12 inch large mouth bass ?I saw other large mouth bass( bigger ones) . But were are the trout ? Is there anywhere during this high water from shore to catch trout? jagermeister anyone?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 29, 2011 Root Admin Posted April 29, 2011 No- not really. I saw the pics of that cove at the boat ramp. Not sure if they'd let you put a boat in there but I bet you could catch some fish- trout and other species. Also good for bank fishing. Not a big area but it's a fishable area- may be the only one.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 There are probably crappie and whites and various other how knows whatsits hanging around the sheltered inlet of the boat ramp. It'd fun to throw a heavy jig or spoon on 6lb and see what happens! In the years past.. I have slayed the whites on the fly during times like this.. usually with the water a bit lower though. 20-30+ fish in a few hours. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
