SRV1990 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Tom, I just got back from 4 days at Holiday Hideaway, what a great place. We had a group of 25 and it worked out perfect for us. Aunts Creek is still very stained, but the spinnerbait bite was on pretty good in the bushes. We also ran down to Indian Point and did great on the smallies with the fish Dr. Good luck Thanks Conman, we're looking forward to the trip, and Sue and Carl seem like real nice folks. Just curious, what colors worked best in the spinner baits? Most of my arsenal is plastics -- fish doctors, centipedes, finesse worms, tubes, etc, I just don't have a lot of spinner baits. How about the top water bite, anything on the red fin or spooks? Thanks again! Tom "You can always justify putting off a decision... but you can't put off the results of indecision."

I am already getting anxious. The guys throwing spinnerbaits were using white or silver, they were behind the bushes and right up on the bank, the fish they were taking were mostly Kentuckies with some big (5+) largemouths and a handful of smallmouths. The guys throwing the finese worms deep were catching smallmouth almost exclusivly. I didnt have much luck topwater, but I also didnt try too hard.

conman Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Hey, conman, care to share a more specific location on those smallies around Indian Point? Sure would apprciate some intel. Hillbilly, We basically started on the Jake Creek side of Indian point and hit every main lake point and major secondary point on the north shore all the way back to Point 5. We found that the majority of the fish were not on the point, but between 50 and 100 yards into the cove. We sat anywhere between 25 and 35 feet of water and threw fish dr's on a shakey head. darn I love the Rock! Chris
Members Hillbilly Deluxe Posted May 13, 2011 Members Posted May 13, 2011 Thanks! I'm headed down to my place on Indian Point, Jake Creek side near Rock Lane Marina, tomorrow. Hoping I can drop the trolling motor and catch some smallmouth without leaving Indian Point. Yes, I love The Rock as well! Brian www.outdoorguysradio.com
SRV1990 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 We did OK Conman, not as good as some of the others who posted here about last week. However, I did land my personal best on this trip, this 4lb 7oz beauty: "You can always justify putting off a decision... but you can't put off the results of indecision."
Members Hillbilly Deluxe Posted May 19, 2011 Members Posted May 19, 2011 I only got to fish for about 2 hours. Caught 2 nice smallmouth and 2 LM. Thanks! Brian www.outdoorguysradio.com
