Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 2, 2011 Root Admin Posted May 2, 2011 http://www.swl.usace.army.mil/news&info/news/2011/037-11.html I texted our county commissioner and asked him about the alert. He said they are considering up to 40,000 cfs release but it won't happen until morning- may be as early as 6 am. They are running 20,000 right now. In 2008, they ran 48,000 so it would be just under that mark. Fun times!
Guest Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Dammitt, At least we didn't get 10" rain like central arkansas. http://www.accuweather.com/us/radar/24hr/ar_/radar.asp Here's the problem: The lower White around St.Charles has been at flood stage for over a month. http://155.76.117.11/hydraulics/docs/current.stg/wr1181w.gif This is a result of the Mississippi flooding out and backing up into the lower white River. This occurred before the upper white river system maxed out. Now, todays rainfall inundated the middle white river from batesville down to clarendon. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ar/nwis/uv/?site_no=07074850&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060 Plus the Black river is dumped mass amounts of flood water into the central White River. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ar/nwis/uv/?site_no=07072500&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060 This means, the entire White River system is backing up. The Mississippi River has to drop so the White can run out. This flood situation will not go away soon enough.
