1969Larson Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Does anyone know where the mud line is currently? Found any clear water?
Guest Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Past the 12 bridge but not all the way to Rocky branch, thats what I heard today

Members mchunter Posted May 5, 2011 Members Posted May 5, 2011 Does anyone know how the muddy water effects stripers? I have posted a few questions before about stripers and have appreciated all the info. I'm the guy from Oklahoma who has been coming up to Beaver several times a year and I am still trying to figure these fish out! I hear that stripers do not like muddy water, but prefer the more clear water. Does this mean that when the mudline starts progressing, the stripers stay ahead of it? If so, it seems it would start concentrating them more in the clear water, thus making them a little easier to find. Or, do they just deal with it and stay spread out over the lake? Just searching the great minds on this site!!! Thanks. MCHUNTER

I think they just follow the food, I have found stripers in the mud when the water is rolling in and the gizzard shad are in the back of the coves, but as a rule they will hunt the clear water. I don't think it is where they are as much as it is they will swim a lot further to hit a lure in clear water and are eaiser to catch. But if you find water running hard, you will find shad most of the time and if there are a lot of big shad around, sometime of the night or day the stripers will go there and feed. hose fish can cover 30 miles a day looking for food so that can put them anywhere on Beaver in the same day.
Quillback Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 A few years ago I went on a guided striper trip on May 1. Water was up like it is now, but maybe not quite as muddy, the guide took up way up the White river, past the 412 bridge several miles, the water was definitley muddy up there and in the trees, but the fish were up there and biting, 5 guys in the boat and we all limited out with 5-8 lb stripers using live shad. Don't know if they are there now, but the muddy water did not bother them that day.
1969Larson Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 Super clear up around the dam today. Twin bridges was solid mud with beautiful clear green water coming in at the Richland Creek junction.
jeb Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Still very muddy in the mid-lake, PC to Ventris areas. Got 2 more inches of rain Friday in that area, which does not help the clearing issue. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
