GloryDaze Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I realize water level dictates this trip, so let me preface with that. However, If I wanted to float the Little Niangua, arriving late on a Friday evening with the time to float and fish all day Saturday and Sunday morning, where would I float? I would want to camp on the river Friday and Saturday night and be off the river by 10am on Sunday. I've never floated this before, so not familiar with outfitters, etc...., but would need a shuttle. Any thoughts? Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory

Any thoughts? Do you need a shuttle or will you do your own shuttling? I like Bannister to Witherall Slab or even go on down to Green Mill Campground but then you have to portage over Witherall slab. I fish and float very slowly and this is almost a full two days for me. You could also do Bannister to Fiery Forks but you would probably make it in on Saturday night to Fiery Fork unless you float pretty slowly... Bannister to Fiery Fork about 6 miles Bannister to Green Mill (HWY J) about 9 nine miles Joe

Always thought I would have to float on down to Mikes (Green Mills) If I did that. Sure is a nice long deep hole down below the slab, bolders as big as my truck down in their. Good fishing just on the backside of the slab too, nice deep hole, least it was 3-4 yrs. ago. Bannister to Fiery Forks looks like a long float as it is, as slow as I go fishing. You are correct and I have caught a ton of fish in the first quarter mile below the slab!!! Wait actually, there are no fish in that enitre section of river. The Little Niangua sucks!
woodman Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 That area of Mo. hasn't gotten the water like the south I'll bet the river is clear. I always kind of liked the low-water-hot-dog-day-summer fishing conditions, like when we would go for 2 weeks camping on the Elk as a kid back in the 60's. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
