I have been fortunate to fish all over and growing up never had the opportunity my girls had today. As always the amount of trout was enough to keep even my fairweather fishermen interested. The youngest still had 2 to go and at 3oclock here came the hatchery truck with two scoops right in front of her. Two casts and the six yearold understood why I kept saying patience. Yes it's canned but the kids don't care and I saw skilled 12 year olds killing them. There were a seasons fish caught by some of these kids today. Never seen anything like it in any other state. Very good thing for the kids. They got all the attention as well. It definately peeks their interest, alot less in the vendor area than meramec in the past years, if you missed today meramec has the same deal next saturday. worth the trip for a kid to have a successful day.

It was allot of fun...went down Wednesday so I missed your post... We had a great time...little fishing outside the park on Thursday & Friday AM...then in the park with my 4 & soon to be 2 year old baby girls and they did well both days......Two other couples came down with their kids on Friday..and 6 kids 5 & under hit the water after the rain on Saturday AM..They only lasted for and hour and a half our so...but they all caught some fish...particularly the 3 five year olds....kept me busy skinning & filleting for awhile..more than we could eat last night. Sounds like you had a great time too!

Was alot of fun and kept them interested the whole time. Three rods is all I could keep going even with the wife helping. Fish to net, lines to untagle, bait to put on I was hopping for a couple of hours. I will see if interst level holds for meramec next weekend then It's time to have them hold a rod while bottom bouncing a crawler rig. They don't like it as much as trout fishing for kids day. If the water would come down I would take them drum fishing in a spot on the gasconade, they do like the pull of a big drum. Odds are about even with the little one.
