Members lovetofish Posted May 9, 2011 Members Posted May 9, 2011 Do people still think that lousy cam is worth all the fuss and cost. IT is never streaming and the picture is worse than a kids camera.

timsfly Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Yep worth every penny. They would just waste it elsewhere. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
NoLuck Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 What is anything worth for that matter. To me it is nice to look and see what the conditions are before I decide to drive 2.5 hours and see that the stream is blown out or just way too crowded. Gas is just too expensive to rely on what a business tells you. They are out to make money and get you down there and they will tell you everything is fine to boost sales. As long as I get a current pic I am good. I don't need it to be streaming to decide what I want to do.

Seems like a good way to see stream conditions and decide for yourself what you want to do.
Members drath Posted May 10, 2011 Members Posted May 10, 2011 Yep I like it too. For the same reasons as NoLuck and stlfisher I check it regularly right before or after I check the USGA site. Flow and depth only tell me so much. Plus, I just learned about the USGA site a year or so ago. Being able to put a visual image with 309 CFPS and 2.69 ft. sure speeds up the learning curve when it comes to what those numbers mean for the Spring Branch. I wish I had a better idea of what 1350 CFPS and 5.86 ft. means for the Big River near Washington (not saying that every stream needs a camera, just that I have more learning to do when it comes to that river). -D
brittsnbirds Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I agree with Rich (NoLuck). I really appreciate the camera when it is pointed at the dam. I can tell by looking at the base how high the water is. As well as looking above at the stripping hole for clarity!! When we going Rich?? I've got the itch. Pat

Pat Hey Pat, I am back home now and ready to go as soon as we get a small shut-down done next week. I need to haul my camper down and leave it soon. As soon as I get freed up I'll give you a PM and let you know.
