kwall Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I would suggest talking to Dale at the Southwinds Motel 417-637-5505 just south of the ramp and it is also a good economical place to stay . P.S. Heard all Walleyes have to be returned to the lake unharmed this year. LOL
Gilly Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Pay attention to the posts from the last few days from the guys that have been on the water, especially Bob Bennett. Here's a place to stay on the north end. Booked this next week, I've got a couple of buddies coming down too, but if you ever head back down give me a shout, OAF members get a price break. http://www.drydock516.com/ www.drydock516.com
Boobie Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 I have been staying at the southwinds for 5 or 6 years now.Dale is a super guy and has taught me a bunch about the lake and stockton walleye.Just thought i would try to get any other info i could!Trying to get my buddy on a great eye trip.Oh,on the PS thing.Sorry but we are bringing the fish fryer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
shockley32 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Spent the last two days walleye fishing Stockton between dodging the storms! The walleye were hitting fair to moderate off main lake points. Choose the points with rocks, drag a nightcrawler on the bottom. Caught several walleye however we were having trouble finding keepers, did get enough for dinner!!!! We did catch several real nice white bass, great fighters. Good luck, Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
Boobie Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks Brad, every piece of info helps! Will post our results when i get home.

Boobie Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 Just got settled in from the stockton trip. We caught plenty of walleye in the 20 foot range on bottom bouncers and the slow death!!!!!wow was that a neat set up. they just loved it . My friend enjoyed the lake and I think he is hooked on the walleye. The slow death rig hooked him,he is talking about buying walleye tackle. Caught other species including some nice crappie, big whites,14" blacks, goggleye, blue g's,.Roark area was a good choice even though i like the dam area.THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Walleyedmike Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Thanks for the report, Boobie. Hopefully it's still that hot in a couple of weeks when I can make it down. Your friend shouldn't have a large investment in fishing for walleye with slow death rigs. A bottom bouncer, a swivel, 4' of line and a hook. I even splurge and add a bead to the line in front of the hook. Maybe $2.00 invested in the whole presentation! WM
Boobie Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 We used a 5/8 oz. bottom bouncer seemed to pick up subtle bites. points didnt seem any better.17 - 20 ft. of water was the key. Wind blown banks.
