Trip Report For 5/18

Started out today on some rock riprap. Same place where I limited out last week. Water was a lot lower. Somebody forgot to tell the crappie to still be there. lol After 2 hours only had 1 crappie. I moved to a steep rocky bank near Springfield Landing. It started in with a cool steady rain as soon as I got there. Found the crappie at 12 - 14' deep in 25' of water. By 1:00 I had 5 keepers. I also caught a fair number of small ones too. By 1:00 that could rain had frozen me stiff. I was soaking wet and cold. Fish or no fish I couldn't stay out any longer. Water was slightly stained and about 2' of visibility. Looks like it is going to warm up some over the next few days. That works for me!! I noticed that the 245 bridge is still closed. The MoDOT website says they will be finished on the 20th. I passed it on the way home and they aren't even ready to pour concrete yet. I don't think it will be done by the 20th. See you all on the lake on Saturday.

At least you found them. I tried yesterday on the main lake and didn't have much luck.

The walleyes were willing but not the crappie. I'll look in the creeks next time. Good luck Saturday

Sends cold chills down my back Straw Hat I hope those five crappie warmed you a little bit. I was on the mower today and liked to freeze, but Im just sitting there. Im kinda itching to go tonight need to look at the temp tonight if it stays above 60 or so all night Im going. Huck.

Low of 56 tonight and a 40% chance of rain Huck. Good luck if you go and breakout the longjohns. lol

yeah I just seen the weather and not above 60 so no go for me. I just want to go so bad it has been 2 weeks sense i have been able to go. Seeing that big cat just got me itching to go. If Im getting rained out for work Im gone fishing, maybe everday for a week, weather channel is saying rain for the next 7 days. Ive never seen it rain 7 days strait. Had a friend of mine go up to oceaola and set out some jug lines, and they did well, but on a bad note somebody cut 3 of their lines on the jugs, and stole their fish, I would be seeing if those boys could dance on water if you know what I mean... That makes me mad!!! So know they are gonna sleep on the boat, I would do that anyway that way you can check em and rebait them when needed. Huck

I see that those who can't fish.......steal. What a shame that it has come to that.....stealing fish from another. What is wrong with people? Losers!!!!!!
