Greg Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 It was an unexpected pleasure that the corp didn't run any generators today until 1 PM. I started at the rock at about 8 AM and the fishing was good. I packed it in at 1 PM when generation started. It started out really slow but when the fog burned off about 9 the fishing got much better. Lots of decent sized rainbows and a few browns as well. Small scuds and zebras worked for me today. On another note I'd like to compliment Stan and Carolyn Parker from River Run outfitters for their streamside ettiquete. They passed several times in their drift boat today and always gave me plenty of room and asked before they came through. They always have a friendly word or 2 as well. There's another guide on Taney (to remain nameless) that will never slow down as he speeds by you and in general acts like he owns the upper lake and that us recreational fly fishers are just a nuisance. Wayne SW/MO Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 There's another guide on Taney (to remain nameless) Why? Sounds like he has earned some notoriety. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 1, 2006 Root Admin Posted August 1, 2006 "Speeds" by in a drift boat???
Greg Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 "Speeds" by in a drift boat??? That's pretty funny! No I was just speaking about boats in general. This particular guide has a boat with a pretty good sized motor based on the speeds he attains and the wake he puts out. I'm just not going to say his name as I don't know him and I just think it would not be a good idea to put his name out there on a public forum. Steve Smith Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 On another note I'd like to compliment Stan and Carolyn Parker from River Run outfitters for their streamside ettiquete. Ditto on Stan and Carolyn. I met these two folks my first trip to Taneycomo, green as I could be on tailwater fishing. They showed me exactly what to do and use. Great folks. ___________________________ AKA Flysmith - Cassville MO

I know exactly who your talking about, he darn near drowned me about 2 weeks ago. fishing below the MDC boat ramp with 2 gens running, he came flying up river about 15-20 feet in front of me, never slowed down. i was already about waist deep in the water. he had 3 others in the boat with him. he made his drift and came back up river again, did the same thing. there was a guy in a smaller boat behind him and he actually slowed down and did not cause a wake. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.

I know who you are talking about as well....guy acts like a real turd towards his fellow fishermen.
Members moonshiner1980 Posted August 2, 2006 Members Posted August 2, 2006 If he's a real fisher man it sounds like his daddy never tought him any ethics. Not to mention how can he even fish if he never stops long enough to let the water settle. Fight the good fight.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Well thank heavens his reputation will remain intact, I would hate for anyone to cause him any discomfort for his rudeness. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
