Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 This storm just ripped thru the Midwest, most notably the Joplin area. There are a bunch of guys from this page that are from the Joplin area... hopefully this storm isn't as bad as it looks on TV. Lets just hope they and their families are safe. My prayers go out to everyone affected by this storm. sincerely, Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.

Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 I just learned of 24 fatalities due to this Joplin tornado, a possible mile wide and maybe EF3 winds. It apparently happened so quickly that the storm spotters couldn't report the information fast enough. I read there were only 5 minutes from information of funnel clouds in the area to confirmed catastrophic damage. This is very sad news indeed. Brian I also just found out from KY3.dot that debris has landed into the Springfield area from this storm. Members bsteele02 Posted May 23, 2011 Members Posted May 23, 2011 Lots of prayers from me tonight. My heart goes out to those affected by that nasty storm.
stlfisher Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 My aunt and Uncle and grandpa live in Joplin. They are ok as well as their home, but without power. Could have been much worse. They are right off Rangeline. Sounds like and looks like massive damage.
