Alarm rang 3:30 Sat. morning, sound of a down pour on the master bath skylight greeted me. Bumped it up another hour, same thing. Birds chirping in early daylight brought a good sound, rain was gone. Headed north to a little lake called Crane Pond, arrived around 7:30, had the lake to ourselves shy of one bald eagle and 5 geese. Fishing was slow after rain, wind was blowing steady. Other boats started rolling in after us, our peaceful lake in the middle of nowhere became a circus by 1:00 when we pulled out. Biggest crowd I have ever seen on that lake, 15 boats and 40 people milling around the banks. We did see the biggest cottonmouth in one cove, looked like a beaver swimming at first.

Next came the duck lake, stayed there till 8:30. Several fish, nothing large.

Fished a tourney today on Lac Shane, my first ever. 7 boats launched at 5:45 on a lake that I had only fished once, in the dark, for catfish. It is normally a 12-15 slot, today for the tourney was 5 fish, 12" or better, catch and release at ramp. We did good early, boated one 14" that weighed in at 1lb 5oz, which was 3rd largest. It was the only one we put in the live well. I had a dozen less than 12, bluegill, crappie and others. Wind kicked in around 7 and beat us up pretty bad with the whitecaps. Around 10, I gave up and worked the trolling motor while my buddy fished, but we were shut down from then on.

5 fish at 6 lb won it, big fish was 1lb 8oz. Pretty poor all around. There endeth my professional career, back to fishing for fun.

Was a pretty bad weekend for me. I did some farm pond fishing at some fishing buddies family farms. Nothing was biting at all and these are pretty active one after another type ponds.

I caught two turdlet bass. Using topwater plastic worms floating them on top of the pond scum. Biggest catch was a nasty sunburn.

The sun and wind were brutal, my face took alot of sun. It would have been really hot yesterday if the wind was not blowing 30mph. We did fair on top water torpedos, most were on jigs and roostertail. Worms and plastics were slow, could not really work them in the wind.
