9LB Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I just bought a new hummingbird with GPS and I am wondering how to upload the brush pile locations. Any help would be appreciated.
Dutch Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 The process will vary depending on where you have them right now. If they are Hbird wpts then you will need them on an sd card and follow your manual's instructions for importing them. If they are not bird then you will have to use a conversion program like easy gps or gps babel to convert them then put them on an sd card and import them. If they are in one of the files the government has then the conversion can get a bit tricky.
mosouthpaw Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 humminbird pc program will allow you to upload into your gps. register your unit with humminbird and it will provide a link to the files you need. probably an update to you unit as well. i bought a 898 this spring and downloaded the MDC waypoints and converted and uploaded to my humminbird.
Skeeter ZX190 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Anybody know if there is a conversion program for Lowrance to import the MDC waypoints? I have the HDS 7.
Members Jacob Posted May 29, 2011 Members Posted May 29, 2011 Anybody know if there is a conversion program for Lowrance to import the MDC waypoints? I have the HDS 7. After many hours of trying to get gps info imported into my hds 10, Heres how I did it. If you go to the lowrance website http://www.lowrance.com/Downloads/ and click the link for GPXtoUSR Geocaching Application and you can download it. I downloaded the .gpx file off of the mdc website then used the program to convert it to a .usr file. I then stuck that file on my sd card. I turned on my hds unit and let it boot up. Inserted the sd card in the unit. I started inside my sonar screen pressed the page button once to get the main screen options hit my right arrow to get the the utlities section. Selected files and hit enter. Opened up my sd card and high lighted the usr file. I thnk then you press menu and then import. And presto.... It took me days to figure all that out. I'll include the newest converted .usr file that I installed tonight on mine. It might save you a little extra time. It's all the lakes in missouri and the lastest file. well crud if wont let me attach it. If you want it email and I'll send it to ya. Also I noticed they just did an upgrade to the firmware to 4.0 with alot of fixes. Just an fyi Skeeter, I've often wondered if my sonar if really as good as it should be. If your ever at the lake when I am, I'd love to hook up and compare. Ive got the hds10 email me sometime. Jacob_kangas@hotmail.com If have issues withthe import just hollar.
Skeeter ZX190 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Jacob: Thank you so much. I followed your directions and it was very easy. Thanks for all of your hard work to figure it out. I drive a white and red Skeeter and I mainly fish Stockton and spend most of my time in the dam area. I venture as far as the Mutton Creek/Googer Creek area sometimes. So if you see a white and red Skeeter with a 150 4 stroke, that's probably me. Stop me and we can compare our units to see if yours is working properly. Brad
dennis boatman Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Compare units? Sounds fishy to me... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
Members Big Bass Shawn Posted June 21, 2011 Members Posted June 21, 2011 I also just bought a new Humminbird 597 and am needing some help as well. I have downloaded the easy GPS to my computer as well as HumminbirdPC. I cant find a MDC link to download any brush pile cordinates other than Table Rock Lake? I have those saved to my computer but need help in uploading them. Sorry, I'm a little confused when it comes to this kind of stuff. Any help would be appreciated.
