Members raildog Posted May 25, 2011 Members Posted May 25, 2011 Hey folks I'm looking for a place to catch some shad using a castnet on the lower Osage, I'm trying to keep from driving to Bagnall. Can any of you catfishermen give some advice? I'm talking below the lock and dam.
Seth Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I've seen the shad crazy thick at the mouth of the Maries a couple of times. They aren't always there though. One day they are nowhere and then the next they black out the graph. Other then that I don't know what to tell you. Hopefully there's some other guys who are better and getting shad in that area that can respond.

Members raildog Posted May 30, 2011 Author Members Posted May 30, 2011 Seth, I ended up going below Bagnell and got the bait I needed, they were running lots of water and the spoonbill were stacked in there, had to wait till they passed to keep them out of my cast net. Anyhow I fished the lower Osage below the Maries. We caught some hybrids in the mouth of Cadet Creek, right below the Maries. Thanks for your reply Kenny
Seth Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Glad to hear you got some hybrids. I never did catch any this year. Had a buddy get a few earlier in the year, but nothing big like in years past.
