Members Lincoln Posted August 2, 2006 Members Posted August 2, 2006 First off, let me intoduce myself to all the members. I've recently joined Lilleys' Landing as their new dock manager. After years upon years of visiting the area, the right circumstances developed to allow me this opportunity. I've learned much from reading the many posts to this forum. Hopefully, I can contribute a little in return. O.K., enough with all that. On to the fishing... After a three week absence, I was finally able to get down to the dam yesterday. I got in around 9. I know that there are those that do well fishing in the early morning. I'm just not one of them. It is a rare day when I get down there early and do well. 9-10 o'clock? Sure! I do very well. Not early, though. Maybe I'll pick up some tips from those early birds out there. I often wonder why on earth I carry anything other than size 18 black/copper zebra midges in my fly box when fishing Taneycomo. I catch more fish on that fly than any other, bar none. With the water down, I'll usually fish it as a dropper about 12-14 inches off the bend of a #10 red stimulator. Deadly combination. If I don't have a fish take the midge, usually a larger-than-average fish will suck in the stimulator. Gosh, I hate it when that happens. Yesterday at the rebar hole, I was doing very well from around 9:30 until 11:00 when they kicked on the generators. After the water came up (only about 1+), I moved in just above outlet 3 where a ton of fish gather in a deeper hole. Same recipe, same results. Pretty nice day, overall. I took off about 1:00 or so. Can't fish the whole day... Hopefully, I'll get to know some of you down on the water. I'm new around here, so I'm always in the market for interesting people to talk with. Best wishes.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 2, 2006 Root Admin Posted August 2, 2006 Linc and I boated up to outlet 3 last night about 7 pm. Nothing there. So we went down to the north bank up and across from Lookout Island and fished Linc's... well... my old spot really. Right along the bank/flooded sunflowers. We each caught 3 rainbows- I caught mine on a dead chicken and he on a stimie and his zebras. Nice evening... no fog for once.

Thom Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Lincoln: I will be at taney next week. My son in law is docking at Lillies. I will problaly be in sometime during the week to check out availability later in the year. Out of time in my timeshare. I can say you are at a class act. I always recommend Lilly's for supplies, advice and accomadations. Looking forward to meeting you next week. By the way I have been tying black midges in a with a tng bead on a #16 2487 size. Might try an 18. My son who will be down next week ties in the smaller sizes 20,22 & 28 ,but my eyes and finger flex is feeling the 66 years and I can't do it anymore. He always outfishes me though with the smaller midges. Thom Harvengt
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Welcome, I look forward to hearing about your experiences. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members vince Posted August 3, 2006 Members Posted August 3, 2006 Hi Linc, glad to have you on board, and thanks for the oil the other night. Fished last evening after work, went down stream from Lilley's. Fished edies with jigs and jerk baits and caught several small bows and three browns all under 16 inches. Sure enjoy that cool air as the sun goes down, Where else in MO in August can you get down right chilled and have so much relaxing fun? vince
Members Lincoln Posted August 3, 2006 Author Members Posted August 3, 2006 Hey Vince! Good to hear from you. Happy to help out on the oil. We definitely need to get out on the lake again sometime soon. Just let me know when. Also, I made a deal with myself a long time ago - never complain about getting a little chilled during July and August.
Rolan Duffield Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Lincoln: Welcome. You've joined a really great team at Lilleys. I envy all of you that can go out and enjoy the Trout fishing on a regular basis. There are many dedicated fishermen that provide us with regular postings and it's reliable info. Phil doesn't let many secrets stay as secrets very long. I know that by experience. Looking forward to meeting you in early October when my brothers and I will be there fishing for a week and getting in a round or two of golf. Rolan Duffield
