Jack Jones Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I recently called the Springfield Nature Center to pick one up. I was told they had none and that there were none in Jeff City. That MDC was in the process of updating it. They told me there were three at the Springfield Regional Office on Kearny. I picked one up. At the Regional Office, I mentioned the updating and the lady did say don't wait or hold your breath. The MDC sometimes says that, and then changes their mind, especially with all the internet related maps and such. So......two left at the Regional Office as of last Thursday for those who may want them. Paid about $7.00 for it, and loving it. Members AJ Brown Posted June 24, 2011 Members Posted June 24, 2011 I ran into the same issue a few weeks ago. I was getting my fishing license at the regional office and asked about them, she said that not only were they out but no one had them because they haven't released the update version yet. There's a number to call on the MDC website to order some, but she said even they were out. I called anyway just to see, and sure enough they did have some. I had to pay a few bucks for shipping but all in all I only spent $11. I'm thinking I may have the updated version because there's quite a bit about the Missouri River and quite a few northern rivers. It's a great book... anyone know if Arkansas has a version?
Gavin Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 You can get most of what is in the Paddlers Guide for free....at www.missouricanoe.org look under maps...A paddler's guide is still a must have though...keep one in your vehicle, one in the loo, and an extra copy in the bookcase. Cheers.
Jack Jones Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 missouricanoe.org is a great resource and I used it a bit before buying this. I really appreciate their breakdown of outfitters by river. However, nothing beats daydreaming with the maps in hand. Besides, the printed stuff on the web isn't as clear.
