Members zthomas Posted June 3, 2011 Author Members Posted June 3, 2011 tjulianc, These things were basically red all over. Not like fire-engine red, but definitely red. A blown-up photo is below, with white arrows pointing to the red minnows. You can also see a couple of brownish minnows near the upper right (red arrows), one of which appears to have a red head. Do some of these little shiner types turn all red at times?
mhall02 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Were they constantly swimming or did they lay on the gravel, sometimes not moving around. If they stop and lay on the gravel for a bit, then dart to their next location and do the same, they would be some sort of darter.
ness Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 You're right -- that rainbow does have that hatchery look about him. Could be a local stocked some in 'his spot'. I've found trout like that before. REgardless, looks like a fun day, especially with that surprise with it. John
