flyrodman Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I am heading down to the river on July 10-12, is the hopper fishing usually good that time of year? If so, what patterns should I tie? Thanks for the input! Luke Walz

timsfly Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Hopper fishing should be good then. #12-#8 hoppers are my favorite sizes I do the hopper dropper all the time, I just tye foam hoppers most of the time, and I use Chernoybe ants a lot also. txspecks04 Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Can you fish hopper-dropper rigs in the C&R section of the river? I have always heard single hook C&R portion of the river and have never understood if you could have multiple single hooks or just one...I have always stuck with just one since I figure it will keep me out of trouble, but I figured I would see if anyone could get me some clarification on this issue.

The MDC rules and regulations says nothing about hooks other than they must be flies and all fish have to be released unharmed immediately, I'd say it is ok but I'm not the one to ask Luke Walz
txspecks04 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Thanks flyrodman, I think I will probably start doing that more often. Having fished it often on other waters, I know that it can be a very effective technique.
