I've been using this knot since I moved from 20lb mono tippet over to 20 lb fluorocarbon tippet. The fluoro wouldnt hold my mono loop knot that i had been using and i thought to myself...the perfection loop is commonly used to connect leader to tippet why not tippet to fly? I never ever lose a fly at the knot unless the line is wrapped around something then it will bust, otherwise my hooks bend out before the line breaks at the knot....seems good to me, any opinions on this. its real simple to tie too. thanks ...

for the how too if you're interested

What are you fishing for if you are using a 20# tippet?

Personally, I don't like tying the perfection loop. I use an improved clinch knot or a uni-knot. I've experimented with the Eugene Bend knot, but found that harder to tie than the clinch knot.

For a loop knot, the uni-knot works great. Or else there is always the double surgeon loop knot. I once had a book of knots put out by Stren, that showed a loop knot used by Lefty Krey, but I forget what it's called. Looked too easy to tie so I never did tie one.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

I don't worry too much about knots, but I know a lot of folks do. Nail->surgeon's loop->surgeon's->improved clinch = no worries. Catching fish since 1993.

uni knot looks huge and it slips down to no loop...improved clinch is not a loop(I like the loop) the knot i was using was the no slip mono knot...even if i went back to mono id still use the perfection loop. its so easy, small and strong, has never once slipped or broken and i fish alot....I catch catfish, hybrid bass in the 2 ft range and lots of grass carp up to 3.5 ft, or more. if i tie on 15 lb tippet I always get burned. try landing a large hybrid bass or a large grass carp near snags in a kayak with anything less...its a bitch..20 lb it is then. Best not to mess around where i fish. photos of said fish at http://missouriflies.com/

That just makes me hungry.

I knew I should have had the catfish instead of the roast beef for lunch.

Are you fishing a feeder creek of the Missouri or Mississippi? I don't know where else you could get a nice channel, a nice blue, and grasscarp in the same spot.

Very interesting. I didn't realize there were that many grassies outside of lakes where they have been stocked.

I've used the perfection loop for decades for leader to tippet, but never for the terminal end.

Couple of questions, what brand/model is your yak and how do you like the Konic?

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
