Had not been up in a few weeks and was curious if anyone is catching any crappie under the docks. With the summer heat upon us and heavy boat traffic was curious how the crappie fishing is this time of year. Have not really tried for them in the summer months just during the spawn and early fall. Any info is greatly appreciated. Good luck to all and be safe this summer.

I don't have a first person report, but it sounds like the fish are in post spawn mode and scattered right now. You can pick them up but it's not nearly as easy as it was three-four weeks ago.

Use the current to your advantage to reach under docks. Main lake section is preferred. I'm catching quite a few, but they are pretty small. Keepers but I guess this past spring spoiled me with lots of big ones. They are actually in some pretty big schools along docks with current. Let the current bring your jig under the dock. You're going to catch lots of fish only half of which are going to be keepers.

Thanks for the good info. I was fishing mainly in the gravois arm at a resort close by to the four seasons. It is really more of a secondary point not right on the main channel but pretty darn close and the docks do have substantial brush piles underneath. Is there any real good solid area or location that would offer these kind of conditions(current, correct depth, etc.) that you mentioned or is it a kind of hunt around til you find the glory spot. I do not normally bring my boat up there(is only a fourteen foot deep v with a 25 horse merc) but if there are any good and relatively easy spots to get to might consider bringing it. I am also curious as to how crappie would be during the night time hours when the temps are cooler and the water has quieted down. Any suggestions or info appreciated.I do love those crappie.
