minnowhooker Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Caught 4 keeper walleye all off them between 15 an 16. Trolling with a spinner rig an nightcrawler probably caught 9 all together. Tried crappie fishing the brush piles and never caught one. Straw Hat I did catch 3 channel cats while trolling the biggest about 2.5lbs thought I had a 5lb walleye. All the above in 20'to 23' on main lake points between hartley cove and point 2.
straw hat Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Well done. You sure caugfht a basket load of fish. I figured that the cats would be real active by now with this hot weather but after last weekends troubles I have had to spend the week fixing my trailor. I hope to be out there Saturday. We couldn't pick up any keeper crappie last weekend of the brushpiles either. Wound up catching them suspended in open water. I thought they might be chasing new schools of young shad. Congrats on the walleye and see you on the water soon.
powerdive Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Excellent report, MH. Thanks. Last weekend I didn't see much around the brushpiles either, but there were semi-loads of crappies suspended in the mouths of spawning coves in the top 10-12 feet of water. You need to be over 25-40+ fow. Fish 5' down, you should catch a bunch, whether trolling or casting.
