stlfisher Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 Wow! Awesome, beautiful brown. I don't recognize the stretch of river from the background. On top too, dang! She goes, 20"+, looks super fat, probably 16-17", 7 lbs.+ I'd estimate. Congrats! You'll never forget this one, especially after those long runs. Yep, that is what I was thinkging as far as size...should have got some measurements, but I was too worried about getting her back in the water. She didn't have mark on her. There was a lot of traffic Saturday so I was fishing in a strecth that I don't normally see many people fishing. There water isn't that great in this stretch, but I thought maybe I would have an outside chance at a big fish. Everyone once in awhile it actually works out!
stlfisher Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 Thats a great fish...good for you... 23" or so? Yeah that is what she looked to me 23-24 inches...mabye a bit more...not sure the picture entirely does her justice. Very healthy and fat fish.
flyfishmaster Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 That is a great fish for that river. Great job! Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
OKFlyFisher44 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Nice brown! That thing is a pig. Gotta love it when a big nasty fish like that comes up and eats some foam. Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
Greg Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Congrats. That's one of the more colorful Browns I've ever seen. Greg "My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it" - Koos Brandt Greg Mitchell
FishinCricket Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 You didn't get a photo with your finger lodged in it's gill... How'd you get it to sit still? Kudos, man.. Nice kraut trout... cricket.c21.com
stlfisher Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 You didn't get a photo with your finger lodged in it's gill... How'd you get it to sit still? Kudos, man.. Nice kraut trout... I usually just grab them by the tail and swing them around in a circle for a few minutes. They get pretty docile after that....have to be careful if other anglers are around.... they are slippery suckers. Can you educate a city boy what is kraut trout? Usually, we just add "izzle" to end of everything. I just gently put my thumb in the corner of the mouth, with my hand underneath and the other under the belly. When the camera was ready lifted her up...probably out of the water for 5 seconds. Thanks everyone again for all the nice comments.
Members Adam Snodgrass Posted June 15, 2011 Members Posted June 15, 2011 Wow! Beautiful fish. I recognized you from your pic....my father in law and I chatted with you briefly on Saturday near those deep pools below Baptist. I had some luck with the cicada pattern too, but just nabbed a few rainbows and nothing like the monster you got there! Great job! Adam
