Went to the golf course today for some fly rod fun. I caught a bunch of bass and some huge bluegill. sorry I cant get the pics up right now, all were caught on olive, black, and brown wooly buggers, the biggest of the fish was a 2-3 pound bass, a load of fun on a 5 wt!

That does sound fun! How did you fish the wooly's? Did you use a strike indicator?

I have been catching bass on my 5 weight in some local pond's as well. Biggest for me has been 3 lb's. I have been using a Slumpuster and it has been hot the last few weeks. you are right they are ton's of fun!

I did fast 2 inch strips and a couple of pauses without a strike indicator. I just watched the line and felt for resistance.

I love fly fishing for bass, and also use a five weight. I fish the woollies about the same was as you do-short strips with little pauses in between...drives 'em nuts. You don't need an indicator. They just get in the way. You'll know when you've got a fish on.

And except late in the evenings when I go to dries, the woollies are about all I use. I've yet to find anything that consistently works better.

Hey Mitch, have you been hangin' out with Pete (SIO3) lately?

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
