well it wasnt too bad..we wound up with 4 crappie, one bass and one drum..2 of the crappie were keepers..didnt find the fish until about 10 or 1030 and we were leaving at 11 or 1130..finally found some on a flat in about 26 fow running the bait about 15ft..didnt have time to get any new colors so the only color i had that they would bite was white ..just a word of caution when i was loading the boat i think i over heated myself, so all of you take care in this heat..thanks again for all you input my son had alot of fun and he caught the biggest fish which was the drum, he was bragging about that..

I fish stockton a lot, long line crank baits all summer long, I use bandit, 300, run 4 to 6 rods, and sometime planer boards, I have line counter reels, and 8 to 12 ft rods, run 75 to 100 ft of line out at 1.7 mph, using gps speed over ground setting on depth finder,( Lowrance) set up in the area of birch branch and troll 15 to 30 ft of water, I love brown/orange. black/pink, pink, brown orange has been hot last few trips, do well up arround state park and the deep water up there, sometime I use 1oz weights and let out 50 ft of line and troll that deep water up in that ares. type in trolling crank baits in google and find some good advice. good luck

here's some trolling info that you may find helpful. A couple of years ago the tv show, G3 sportsman aired a show featuring J R Oldham, a guide on stockton, tolling for crappie. They were using Berkley flicker shads made for walleye in chartruese pearl, there are two sizes, the smaller one works best. it dives to about 8 to 10 ft. We tried it and are hooked, it works !Right now the best place to find them for me has been where the channel runs close to the bluffs in about 20feet of water, two of us in the boat limited out twice last week. IN the spring when they are spawning, it is a great way to catch them in mid day when they move out off the bank. It requires a light action rod and no more than 6 lb test. you can rip one out of their mouth pretty easy. if your in the right place you usually get a couple bonus walleyes too
