troutchaser Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Can anyone recommend some good spots to wade and fly fish outside of the trophy area? I really enjoy C&R, but I want to take some trout home for dinner. Paul Rone
Danoinark Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 I think there are spots on the lake front in downtown Branson that are wadeable during low water. Somebody else that is more familiar will chime in to let us know...Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 8, 2006 Root Admin Posted August 8, 2006 Downtown- only place. Brian Shaffer has been going down to just above Bass Pro to the old gravel bar and doing pretty well off the bar. Lots of trout gathering esp if they are running alot of water in the evening. You can boat/fly fish and do well below Fall Creek.
RSBreth Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Isn't the slot limit still in effect in the trophy area- Rainbows 12" or less, 4 per day?
Members Lincoln Posted August 14, 2006 Members Posted August 14, 2006 As mentioned above, the slot limit in the trophy area will allow you to keep fish <12". Based on my recent experiences, you should catch plenty of fish that will fall outside the slot.
gonefishin Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 If it is a slot it has to be an upper end too. If the lower is < 12" what is the upper end. I would rather be fishin'. troutchaser Posted August 14, 2006 Author Posted August 14, 2006 You know, I've caught a lot of fish on the short side of the slot limit, but I've only hooked one that was above the limit. I guess the reason I was asking is because fish under 12" are kinda small to keep, aren't they?. Paul Rone
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 They're comparable to your average park fish. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
