Hunter91 Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 My son and I are heading to Truman Friday afternoon looking for some whites and hybrids. I have never fished there before and could use any suggestions on location and baits. Probably do some trolling also. Thanks H91
Samkam1 Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 About 2 weeks ago the whites and hybrids were coming up decently in the Osage Bluff area....try the points and humps south and west of KK island. They were pushing shad up against the bluffs in that same area also. Try point 03 and the points past 03 towards the dam. Also look for structure around the dam area..we findd some good hybrids there this time of year also. We use live shad in the 3-6 inch range which are plentiful in the backs of long coves...but are hard to keep alive and frisky without a good bait tank.... we use glass shad raps and white curly-tail jigs also for trolling...and the whites were liking white spoons. The shad are getting up to the perfect size... look for the shad and you will find the fish. Hope this helps a bit! Best of luck.
Hunter91 Posted August 10, 2006 Author Posted August 10, 2006 Thanks for the suggestions. We will let you know how we do.
Dutch Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I don't know how big your motor is. If you have the range, I have also caught a lot of them around the Fairfield area, in and around the trees across the lake from Indian Island. While you are moving around, don't overlook the O6 area as well. Good luck.
Hunter91 Posted August 10, 2006 Author Posted August 10, 2006 Thanks Dutch. I have a G3 with a 90hp so I have a little range. I may try that area.
Hunter91 Posted August 12, 2006 Author Posted August 12, 2006 Didn't do to hot yesterday. It became pretty windy before dark so we ended up trolling most of the time around KK. Caught some nice blue cats on crankbaits, 1 good white and 1 drum. There were a lot of boats around KK didn't see many fish caught though.
