Members rogerdodger Posted June 29, 2011 Members Posted June 29, 2011 My kids just got a cabin down off DD across from Indian pt. I'm an old James River angler and can run from Ashers to Cape Fair @ night, but know absolutely nothing about the lower lake night fishing especially with all the water up in the bushes. I'm used to Salt Craws, Big worms, Jig/Pig, and Black single spin Spinnerbaits. Not knowing the lake I'm not gonna run far probably from Kimberly City to Indian pt.(all I've got right now is my small jet river/lake boat so we got to be careful). Any suggestions as to baits and structure. Do they get up on the bank down there, any reliable times that they turn on? One advantage of being 60 is you're not afraid to ask for help..........Roger
vacation Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I fished a night tourney last friday night out of moonshine and caught nice fish on shakey head with a senko in the bushes in the back of cove, middle of cove and main lake point....they seemed to be scattered. with the heat and water dropping i'd start on points. I caught most fish from 7-9 and 11-midnight. hope this helps
Jason Essary Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Roger. I night fish that area a lot. Your on the right track with the baits your use to. Main thing is to find structure. Channel swings, ditches, standing timber and brush piles if you can find them. Right now the green fish are still somewhat in the trees shallow, but with dropping water and surface temp rising they wont be there long. smallies and kentucs are in the same areas as the day, just think more aggresive. Dark profiles and larger normally work, but as above, sometimes a shakey head seems to get the bite.
