Patrick M Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I have a 14 ft aluminum v bottom boat. I am looking at purchasing a motor for it for use on lake springfield. if i were to bring it to table rock is there a minimum horsepower rating for the lake? also it will be a 4 to 6 H.P. outboard will that be enough? I'm not looking to go anywhere fast just to be able to be on the lake and fish some in different area's.
Chris King Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I don't believe there is a minimum for any MO lake. I would be more worried about getting swamped by some of these large cruisers. As long as you use common sense and stay in water your boat can handle, you'll be just fine. I had a little 12'er I used for fishing Taneycomo that I'd drop in Table Rock every once in a while. It had a 7.5 on it, I only used it around the cove though.
techo Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I agree with Chris. It will work fine if you stay where it fits. Some guys fish out of canoes. I would go to places like Mill Creek or Cape Fair and fish close. Im going to hate myself for saying this but............Aunts Creek would be a perfect place for your boat. Tim Carpenter
Patrick M Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 I don't want to take it out on the main lake. i was to be in the coves or river arms. i don't want to be in more then 30 ft of water if i can help it. i wont put it in a lot i work in Branson and just want to make a couple trips after work for a couple hours. catch some crappie or bass. I'm new to table rock. will a 4 hp be ok for taneycomo? I know maybe not with full generation going.
