GNSfishing Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I lost a rod & reel last Wednesday at point 5. I was casting a 1/2" oz jig with a large plastic craw. I believe the rod tip snaped about 6 to 8 inches down from the tip of the rod as I was making a great cast. When it broke the rod left my hand due to a line hangup on the rod. The setup was a Bass pro rod and reel not a great loss but it was a good casting combo. Tried dragging a spoon around with no sucess. It may show up when the water level gets down.
rainbow Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Last week I was trolling three rods at Truman and one got hung when I was turning the boat and got pulled in. As I brought one of the other rods in I felt some drag on the line and had snagged my own rod. Brand new baitcaster that I had only been using for and hour. Lucky.
Dutch Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 If you know the spot, take a metal stringer and a 1/4" nylon rope. Open up all the snaps, toss it out, let it go to the bottom and slowly drag it back and forth. You have a very good chance of snagging it. My neighbor lost one this spring. I went back with him and had it out in less than 10 minutes with my stringer thingy.
