Al Agnew Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 One thing that happens to cause rods to snap in other places than the tip or ferrules is when you're fishing with a weighted fly or with lead on your line, and the weight hits the rod on a sloppy cast or when you pull it off a snag. I watched my flyfishing buddy snap an $800 Winston about five casts after he'd hit it with the lead on his line.
