ecce38 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Imagine my surprise when I hooked this sucker this morning! I thought it was a brown until it surfaced. It was a hog. rps Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Hmm. Thought it was a brown? Does this tell us something about what fights best? Actually, I fish both trout and bass, so I am just funnin.
tjulianc Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Do you think there are a lot of bass moving up in the tailwater with all the hot weather, or is this just an anomaly?
rps Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 A few are up there all the time, just as I regularly catch rainbows as far down river as Holiday Island.

Honestly I can't say, but it wouldn't surprise me, especially with the water backed up from Table Rock. On a side note, last time I fished this tailwater I caught a white bass, so there you go! tjulianc Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I've always thought that there has got to be a zone in this tailwater where there are some big lunker bass. A place where the water is always a bit more temperate during the summer and winter, plus lots of stocker trout to feed on. Especially since its a short tailwater, so there is a shorter transitional zone. But there are other places close by where I can go and I know where the bass are so its kind of hard to waste a day or two experimenting with bass fishing in known trout water. Its definitely cool you got one though.
