Members Hef Posted August 1, 2011 Members Posted August 1, 2011 Do any of you fish for smallmouth on Capps? I have never been down there but I go to Monett often for work and would like to wet a line down there for a little bit between trains.
Buzz Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 The best place to find smallmouth on Capps would be below the lower accsess down to where it enters Shoal Creek. I haven't been down for a few months, but with the heat they may be moving up into Capps for a chance at some cooler water. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
mhall02 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Yeah, they are in the lower portion, at least they used to be back in the late 80s early 90s. There used to be a nice hole where Capps and Shoal came together where you would catch largemouth, smallmouth and trout. Lots of fond memories of that creek.
ollie Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I've caught a few, but not as many as one might think. I'm just saying they are in there, but not as many as you would think. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Members phiber_optikx Posted August 1, 2011 Members Posted August 1, 2011 I have caught several in in the lower access. Just throw a bumblebug near some reeds. Most are 6"-10" so don't expect too much.
Members Hef Posted August 2, 2011 Author Members Posted August 2, 2011 Where is the lower access located?
Buzz Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 It's west of the mill about 1/2 mile on Wallaby rd. You can't miss it. There's a big gravel parking lot on the west side of the road just before the bridge. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Members phiber_optikx Posted August 2, 2011 Members Posted August 2, 2011 If you pass that bridge and go to the second bridge, walk upstream from that bridge and you will catch some.
