Members vincel
Hi, I'm new to the forum and fly fishing. After reviewing some of the previous posts I've decided to have Mark from rdp make me my first fly rig. Could you guys give me your opinions on the best set-up for the white river as far as rod length weight and type of Cortland line you would use? I usually fish around wildcat shoals. thanks
Danoinark
For the tailwaters, I would recommend a 9 ft or 10ft, 5 wt. You can't go wrong with a Cortland Peach, that's the 444 in wf. troutbum479
I second the 9 foot 5wt. rod. I fished with an Airflo Ridgeline for the first time last weekend, very sweet line. Found it on sell at Red truck fly fishing for $30. arkmoflyfishing.blogspot.com http://okietroutbum.blogspot.com/
Members vincel
Thanks for the feedback, Mark makes a 9ft 4 pc 5wt rod, he will add a ross flystart 2 with cortland line. I'll ask if he has the cortland peach.
John Berry
I would recommend the same rod with a Cortland WF 444SL. Members vincel
It looks like the line recommendations are for a WF line. I assume that you would want a floating line with a sinking leader? The water condition I would be fishing is a wade-able flow.
KATroutman13
I'd recommend a 6wt because of the times where you may need to throw streamers or you might need to chuck some heavy sculpins.
