Wow, that looks like it must have extremely fun. Do you have an outboard on that john? Did you ever get into water that was too shallow to float? My buddy has a john and I've been talking about fishing up in the river. Looks like we're going to have to do it.

Nah, an outboard would leave ya dragging every riffle... That boat is a 16x36 and, stripped down, it drafts in about 2 inches of water.. We still bumped rocks in most of the riffles.. Good luck!

I'd be interested in knowing how you do. I've never fished the Niangua in late summer but have had lots of success in late summer everywhere I've fished with foam terrestrials. Especially hoppers and stone fly imitators. Looking forward to the report. I'd hang a #14 pheasant tail off of the bend for insurance.

River was up at least a foot...off color...managed 2 small browns and one rainbow all on foam terrestrials...fish were right on the bank...wading was shaky at best and canoe traffic was minimal...I should have checked river level before I left...lesson learned...all in all fun as always...
