Members champion101 Posted August 8, 2011 Members Posted August 8, 2011 Hello all!! I am new to all of this but here goes. I spent three evenings last week throwing a texas rig power worm at rocky points in 13 to 25 foot of water with a really slow presentation and have had great luck catching a few keepers and a lot of shorts . I am having trouble finding any real quality fish but the ones I have boated have been real fighters. Travis Parsons aka Tiny, Big Sexy, Slim, Skinny Fedwell and a few others I can't mention
junkman Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Count your self fortunate for I have fished Stockton several times with miserable results. I'm not a lake fisherman and have not found the secret to success when it comes to Stockton. Now Truman I can fish but think of it this way, you got more experience, had a good time, and got a few fish for your time. And may I say welcome.
Members champion101 Posted August 9, 2011 Author Members Posted August 9, 2011 I fish Truman quite a bit too but only for crappie . I haven't really gone after bass there yet but my wife loves to fish the shaky head and I think I'm going to try out some of the wooded bluffs around Talley Bend right at dark. Where do u go? junkman Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Where do I go? Tough question. I have went with guys to many different places and many I would not be able to get back to for I don't remember how. i do know that when I have went my self I usually fish the Osage arm or the tail water. I like fishing Truman for even though I am not a lake fisherman, and have no fish finder, I still can catch fish. A little luck is better then no luck.
techo Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 I remember when almost no one had depth finders. It was a lot slower learning the lake and finding your spots. Fun and rewarding though. Tim Carpenter
junkman Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Been thinking about buying a fish finder but had my boat motors water pump go out at Truman this last week end , so now I have to fix it. If it isn't one thing it's another. It would probably take a while to learn how to operate one for I have never even seen one used.
Members champion101 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Members Posted August 11, 2011 some are more difficult to operate than others and its kind of a name game between companies. Kind of like chevy and ford u have guys that like humminbirds and u have guys that like lowrance. It just depends on how much money u want to spend but mostly all u need to know is depth , water temp and if u can see a little structure that is a bonus.
