3wt Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Getting your stuff donw the river without a boat of some kind is a trick, but there are a couple of good gravel bars not too far from Baptist. If you're not up for as much leg work the options are fewer. The campground at Montauk can be annoying if you go at the wrong time of year or stay in the wrong loop. I use loop 4 because it's not as nice and has smaller sites with a lot of RV old folks. But they tend to retreat to the interior before night fall and it get quiet really quick. It's no gravel bar but better than the craziness you can get in loop 2.
Guest Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Well, I emailed Eagles Park and the lady who responded said they are indeed still open, and have never been closed in the 11 years that they have owned the place. We will more than likely camp there, because after five years of spring and fall trips it has sort of become a tradition for we Okies I guess (or more like creatures of habit, maybe!). But, we might head a little further down the road and scope out Ozark Mountain for future trips, since everyone here talks so highly of it. As always, thanks for all the info guys. Cole
Brian Sloss Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I can't believe that no one has scooped up that campground yet, there is a lot of potential there for someone who is willing to put the time and some money into it (ie maybe a few cabins). A tackle shop/fly shop out of the main shop + the campground potential revenue. There is so little real estate in Missouri with that close a location to blue ribbon water (across a gravel road)not to mention the trout park. At the very least I am surprised no one has bought as a personal vacation spot. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
10pointer Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Thats what I thought also, I really cant believe there hasn't been more interest in Eagles Park especially since it was going pretty cheap i thought i heard about 80k iirc. Cabins would be awesome and could definitely do well I would think...

Gavin Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 $269,000 is allot for 5-6 acres with buildings that need allot of work...Think Dave Berry's place is still on the market...17 acres with a new home on top of the hill off the road to Parker.....in the $150k range.

Access from the Tan Vat side, when I came that way, had a tree blocking almost half the road, leaving just enough room to squeak by with the camper. The other access is from Montauk and there was barely enough room for two trucks to pass never mind two trucks with trailers. If improvements to the roads are made this property would be a great investment. Until then...
