Members Boat Newb Posted September 19, 2011 Members Posted September 19, 2011 As a food connoisseur, I must tell you about this place. It's in the old downtown section across from the Farmhouse Restaurant. I've heard a lot of good about their burgers and I'm a sucker for a good burger so I took the wife the other day. Man what a burger!!! It was incredible for a fried burger. Just the right saltiness. Not too greasy. perfectly cooked all the way through. I ordered the double cheeseburger as usual. I didn't get this physique from dieting. lol. Their fries were equally delicious!!! I will definitely be back there for another one. Everybody up here in Springfield land thinks W.F. Cody's is the best. I beg to differ. The Branson Cafe is my burger choice when in Branson.
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 The farmhouse across the street is a good place to get a reasonably priced American meal. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Gatorjet Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 This thread is a couple months old, but I just noticed it. I'll have to give that place a try. I have my Best 3 Branson Burger list, but since Chester's closed I'm down to two. Too close to call, but #1. Billy Bob's Dairyland, and #2 Dana's. Real men go propless!
bigredbirdfan Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Did not know Chesters closed. That really stinks. Another local place bites the dust to make way for the Applebees and TGI Fridays of the world. I just don't understand why people choose those kinds of places over small mom and pop establishments.
Gatorjet Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I agree completely. Not only for the local economy, but I have had some of the best food ever at the locally owned places where ever I travel. Some folks just want something they are familiar with, and don't want to take chances. Of course that does sometimes turn bad. After all, look at the full parking lot at the Risky Rooster! If those poor folks only knew!!! But I guess a 40' chicken can draw anybody to an overpriced slop joint. Real men go propless!
Gatorjet Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Well I finally tried the Branson Cafe Thursday evening. Sorry, but I can't agree with the OP. Nothing horrible, but just an average, everyday diner type burger. Now some of the other food I saw coming out of the kitchen looked promising, but as far as burgers they aren't in the same ball park with Dana's, Billy Bob's, or the new Blue Man Grill! Real men go propless!
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I'm not a burger connoisseur,, but I thought Freddies, up by the new Wal Mart was very good. Freddies is completely new to me, so if that's old hat so be it. Side note, the Branson cafe has been there since before 1960. It has changed a lot and personaly I don't think it has kept it's edge. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Gatorjet Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Yup, Freddies is quite good. Especially for a fast food chain. Beats the tar out of the place with the goofy clown and golden arches, or the black and white decor! In my opinion the best burgers in Branson can be found at Billy Bob's Dairyland. On the strip, next door to the Rib Crib in the same building as a gas station/convenience store. Or Dana's on 165 by the Fall Creek Steak and Catfish House. A plus at Dana's is they also have great Q, catfish, and pork tenderloin sammiches. If you can't decide 'tween the burger or Q at Dana's there's always the Dana Burger. a fresh made patty covered with pulled pork, and cheese. YUM!!! Real men go propless!
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Dana's is very good. You don't have to fight the strip to get to them either. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Just had Freddies for the first time last week. It was good, but we've got a local joint, Winstead's, that serves that same style (smashed) hamburger, ice cream, etc. I'd rather patronize the local guy whenever possible. John
