Went up to fish the BLT tournament sunday. They took us off really early at six o'clock. By six fifteen we had a monster in the boat. It was still dark when my dad was throwing a buzzbait behind the boat across a shallow point we had just fished. When we heard the greatest sound in the world. Kinda like a bowling ball hitting the water. The fight was on in the dark. When he finally got it next to the boat it was a monster fish. Weighed 6.42 i belive. Perfectly healthy and released the same way.

Points were the key to our sucess. And the buzzbait bite never stopped. We caught probably close to 70 fish with seven keepers for a total of just over 14 lbs. All day action, and with the buzzbait. You cant ask for a better day. We actually caught more smallmouth on it than any thing else. All fish we caught came from the main lake in the clear water. A couple of the fish you seen coming from 5-6 feet away. We could have had a better day if the fish we seen smash the bait would have actually ate it instead of just slapping it.

The faster the speed of the bait the better the hook up ratio. We figuered in the clear water they were getting too good of a look at it. So we sped up and caught more fish. That little adjustment really saved the day.

Water Temp: 69-71 degrees

Air Temp: 75 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear

Weather Conditions: Cloudy with scatterd storms and rain

So how'd you do?

That was only good enough for 3rd place. There were only eight boats, 17 was first, and 15 was second

Great report, only question what color was working the best?

Color didn't matter a bit. We caught them on a black one, a silver, and a gold and chartruse
