dennis boatman Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Is it to early to fish Capps Creek? Took one trip down there last November and it was WINDY and rainy. Not much luck, as in skunked, but would like to give it a few more tries this year...I was thinking after the leaves have left the trees and stream? A strike indicator is just a bobber...
Chief Grey Bear Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I'd wait until November. About the 2 week or so. It hasn't been stocked since March. You can still find a few here and there but you chances will greatly improve if you wait. ollie Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I was there this last Wednesday and didn't do very well. The weather has been a big factor IMO. It was a beautiful day without much wind actually. Saw some smaller ones here and there and caught a real small brown. Come join us this Thangsgiving weekend when Buzz and I hold a bragging rights deal! ollie Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Just a quick report. Got out Sunday in the morning for about 3 hours down on lower Capps. Caught 3 right off the bat in one hole, but only landed 2 of them. First one I estimated somewhere around 14 inches and the other 2 were just smaller stockers. After that I moved on and only caught one goggle eye the rest of the time and that was under the bridge. Gorgous day and it looks like they haven't stocked. I fished other holes I know they stock at and didn't see anything. It was just a good day to be out even if I only landed 2 bows. Wanted to go smallie fishing, but the morning was a little chilly! Had to be back by noon. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Members Brian Brown75 Posted October 11, 2011 Members Posted October 11, 2011 Hey Ollie, if i dont have wrestling practice, ill be down there with you guys at ollie fest again this year!
Buzz Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I'm already looking forward to Olliefest. What is this the 4th year? If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ollie Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 If I'm not mistaken Buzz this will be year 5? You have 2 and I have 2. Let's see, you claimed the first year, then I took the second which was the sleet, then you took the 3rd although Chief and I stripped you of your title on a technicallity (lol) then last year I took it to you guys when I moved downstream before you did. It's always a fun and good time!! It's going to be a lot different with the park being like it is now. Maybe we can all ride in one car and split the fee to get in? Buzz Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 5 years? It doesn't seem like it. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
