Fishing the Baxter area for a couple of weeks now and have noticed that the bite has

become very tough unless you are at the right place at the right time. Found a topwater bite in some mainlake

pockets around timber in the mornings and would last most of the day if the clouds would stay around. That changed ever since the High Pressure system has been setting in for several days now. Went to fishing a football head jig in the mid depth range of 20-25ft on way out on flats, transitions, and points. Couldn't find them. Moved deeper fishing in 40-45ft and at least been getting few bites. I am soaking that jig down there barely crawling along the bottom. If I feel I have come across a bigger rock or small broken off trees I stop the jig and try to twitch/pause the jig beside the structure. After I move it over the structure and let it settle back down on the bottom I get bit. Saturday had 7 bites with three good keepers. 2 Kentuckies, 1 largemouth. Sunday, fished the same are to

maybe dial in on them for an upcoming tournament and didn't get a bite after two passes on my main area. Went back the third time an 1hour later made 5 casts and caught 4 fish with 2 being squeeker kentuckies and missed another bite on my 5 cast with my trailer being torn off. Instead of the October lull for deer hunting T-Rock has the October lull for fishing. Probably will try spooning some docks and see what I can find. Heard only 13 boats weighed fish for the Homer Sloan tourney. A couple of big bass was brought in: 5.89 and 6.05. Thats all I heard from a buddy that fished in it.

I too struggled last night on topwater near dam area...not sure if it was blue bird sky and no wind and/or the surface temp. jumped 2degrees in my cove or what the deal was.

My solution: hitting the deer woods for the next week or so!

I fished 1 to 9 on Sunday and only caught 9...5 before dark and 4 after. I did have 4 pretty good ones but it was tough to get bites for me and the wart saved me daytime. Jig after dark as I couldn't catch any on single spin.
