Members kkparks_3 Posted October 4, 2011 Members Posted October 4, 2011 Could someone explain in a little more detail on how to tie the drift rig that Phil Lilley wrote about in his article on "How to fish Lake Taneycomo". The main part that I am confused by is how to tie the 30-36" piece of line that has the hook on one end and the weight on the other to the main line. I'm not understanding how to tie the loop. I apologize for my ignorance. I'm a primarily bass-only fisherman trying to broaden my horizons to trout fishing. Thanks a lot, Kevin
rainbow Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 You can buy them pre tied at Lilley's or tie your own. I tie an egg type hook on the end of the line. about 3ft up from the hook i double the line and put it through a barrel weight that has the brass swivel and loop the line around the weight into a half hitch. then pull the weight and double the line about 10 inches and tie and over hand knot creating a loop. i tie the overhand knot for the loop twice so it doesn' t slip and close the loop. Not pretty but it works for me.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 8, 2011 Root Admin Posted October 8, 2011 Loop is just a simple around and through loop.
