Jdecoudres Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I have always used this orvis mirage. Just wondering what you other guys are using. I guess I dont have a problem just kind of seeing what other brands you guys are using more less seeing if there is something just as good as it but cheaper.

I use and like the house brand of floro at Feather Craft in St. Louis.
stlfisher Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I like and now use only Orvis Mirage as well. I know Rio is popular, but it has not worked well for me.
Jack Jones Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I switched from RIO powerflex to Orvis Mirage. I know one is mono, and on fluoro but I can say I've have much better luck with the Mirage in terms of hook sets, knot strength, and overall landing of fish. I've also tried many leaders, and found Orvis nylon leaders to be very good as well. I tend to be brand loyal once I've found something that works, and for me Orvis is it. Danoinark Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Rio, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy Mirage also. Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Trout Commander Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I use Mirage. I did use Flouroflex, by Rio until a buddy gave me some Mirage when I ran out. I couldn't tell a difference and it was five bucks cheaper so I switched. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. NoLuck Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I have been using the Seaguar Grand Max FX. It is supple and small diameter. Great stuff in my opinion, and I have tried them all. Usually with all the others I would get a bad spool once in a while. The Seaguar stuff I have been using for the last couple of years has not given me a bad spool yet.
