DChance Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 got out on Pomme last weekend for a fun tourney. What great weather! I fished down by haverstick the majority of the day. The fish are thinking fall. I caught all my fish on spinnerbait in coves and cuts that were loaded with shad and I just tried to throw at every tree I could see on my way to the back to catch ambushing fish. The winners fished the Pomme side and other caught all their fish with squarebills in 5 ft or less of water on flatter pea gravel rounded points. the second place finisher caught them cranking also, but deeper into the 8ft range.
Dutch Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 The last few times I was down there spinnerbaits (chart) was all I could get them to hit. What weight did it take to win?
DChance Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 bout 11lbs. just under 12lbs. winner had a 4.5lber is only reason. otherwise a lot of identical looking smaller fish
Members Kevin Snyder Posted October 19, 2011 Members Posted October 19, 2011 Fished a 10 boat tournament with 17.4 winning weight. 7 ponder and 5 pounder weighed in. We had 11 pounds all on cranks.
DChance Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 What patterns where they fishing Kevin? that is a nice bag on pomme
Members Kevin Snyder Posted October 20, 2011 Members Posted October 20, 2011 They wouldn't give that up. They said said cranks and jigs on the main lake.
Jbrant Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Heading down Saturday. Anybody heard anything the past few days?
DChance Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 not lately, but I would be sure to check areas like Coopers and the like with a shallow crankbait.
Dutch Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I was there yesterday. I could only get an early bite and it was on spinnerbaits. Standing timber did not give up anything. I had a limit and some shorts but all was around brushpiles and in open water early.
