straw hat Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Just a note that it looks like teh USGS is having problems with their lake level readings. It showes that Stockton went up 8" in 45 minutes on Monday. The Stockton home page for the Sorp still has the correct lake level at; http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/st/daily.cfm
straw hat Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 I just noticed that the USGS website has been corrected.
Members Time Killer Posted October 19, 2011 Members Posted October 19, 2011 Just curious but, does anyone know what the record low lake level is for Stockton?
straw hat Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 I know that I don't know. (huh?) lol I do remember that a few years back it got down to around 859 or 858. Around 8 or 9 ft below power pool. I am sure it has probably been lower than that before though.
dennis boatman Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Lowest I've seen it was in January of 2006... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
Members Time Killer Posted October 20, 2011 Members Posted October 20, 2011 That's getting down there. I've tried pulling up the records of lake levels but havent had any luck. It would just be interesting to know! I mean what's the lowest the level can be and still be able to generate?

I am a curious person myself so I called teh Corp and was told that the lowest on record was 851.81 (16' below power pool) in 1977. The next lowest reading happened several times between 2005 and 2007 where the lake bounce between 858.61 and 861.44 (which is just below where we are now. They also said that they can generate power down to around 855. They said at at that point it usually isn't an issue of lake level but that they start sucking debri into the turbines and also that at that level water quality isn't very good as well. looks like we have a ways to go before we set a new record. I remember those days around 2006 and 07. I sure put out a lot of brush piles in those winters. I also took a lot of pictures of good-looking exposed structure so I would have a better idea how to fish some areas when the lake came back up. Those pictures have really helped me since. It is easier to locate structures and easier to fish them. I sure plan on putting out some more brush this winter a swell. Good fishing Time Killer!!
minnowhooker Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 If it get's down in the 850's again I will be marking spots to fish. I already found some new spots in Little Sac at the current level.
kwall Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 This lake level is helping a 3yr newbe to the lake like me , found lots of good structure - kind of nice to see what it really looks like above water - coming up to winterize camper for the season and to get a fishin' trip in on Sat. - caint' wait!!
Members Time Killer Posted October 26, 2011 Members Posted October 26, 2011 Thanks for that info. Strawhat. I must not have been down to the lake during the last low lake level period, I do remember CC flooded out a few years back!
