edwin Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I recently upgraded my bow unit from a larger size Lowrance LCX to an HB 1198. One feature that I used all the time on my Lowrance was the zoom, allowing me to zoom into a specific depth range. This was super helpful when dropshot fishing. I'd zoom that guy in so the screen would only contain the 'relevant' portion of the water column. I don't think the HB has the ability to do this, forcing me to show 0-the bottom at all times. Not a huge deal but the zoom really made for clearer viewing of what's going on. I figured I'd throw it out there for the smarter-than-me folks on the board....anyone know if this is a possibility on a HB? I'm open to any / all suggestions. tnx! edwin "Advantages are taken, not handed out"
Members Old Novice Posted October 26, 2011 Members Posted October 26, 2011 I downloaded the manual and searched it with Adobe Reader. You may want to go to pages 139-140 and see if the answers to your questions are there.
Members innova Posted October 26, 2011 Members Posted October 26, 2011 Set your upper and lower depth range on the unit instead of using auto.
edwin Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 Great input, will do some reading and adjust the depth range as suggested. Thanks!!!! edit - just read the manual...setting the upper and lower ranges will give me exactly what I want. Truly appreciate the help. "Advantages are taken, not handed out"
Gary Lange Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 It seems that for some reason we never like to read the Manual. I know I am guilty of it big time. Then again the Manual for the HB 898 that I have is 160 pages. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Champ188 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 We are men. Reading the manual can be construed as asking for instructions/directions. Wouldn't want to lose our "man cards" now would we?
Rodmaker Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 The electronics we have available to us today are like the dashboard of a 747. I'm not used to reading the instructions either but I guess we have to get used to that.
Members Old Novice Posted October 29, 2011 Members Posted October 29, 2011 I really don't like to read those manuals either. That would be why I use the "find" feature within Adobe. Makes life so much easier and the wife thinks I am surfing the web, not reading a manual.
