Feathers and Fins Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Ok so I had a wild thought. yesterday with the stripers going off so close to shore I just had to sneak out for a few minutes tonight. Managed 4, 8 to 10 pounders and then this big gal. 36 inches long and a girth of 21 inches all on bucktails in the very back of Prairie Creek. If i cast out toward the middle nothing but if i cast along the shore they would follow or bite. Not bad for a hour shore fishing, They blew up on the shad several times hard and even managed a couple nice 4 pound LMB. Bad News is we are expecting possibly 4'' of rain between now and Wend with a big cold snap after that. I hope the fish stay around but thats going to muddy the water bad which will push the fish back to deep water im afraid. Hope the weatherman is wrong but how many times in a year can he be? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members W. Heisenberg Posted November 7, 2011 Members Posted November 7, 2011 That is so awesome. Thanks for sharing the report. It will be interesting to see how the weather affects the bite in the next few days.
wc1063 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I finally saw shad today! After your post, I figure I'd go back to the end of PC and see if I can spot some shad. I finally found them at the creek mouth and at the cave in water less than a foot deep(some of them are huge, about 10, 12 inches, I guess those are gizzard shad). I parked near the dirt ramp and walked all the way back to the cave. Got all muddy thanks to the rain we had last nite and this morning. It's hard to imaging catching them from the boat in such shallow water, I'll bet if I try, I'll get stuck in the mud or break the trolling motor blade or something! I guess there are shad in the deeper water, I just didn't see them. Did not see any boils while I was there. The first time I came, I was too far in the creek, maybe that's why I didn't see them. Did not try to catch them today since forcast calls for rain for the next few days and also didn't fell like walking back to the truck to get the net(too far!!) Did see some tire tracks along the shore left recently. I assumed that's from you.
Feathers and Fins Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Nope tire marks were not mine...I take my boat up in there to catch shad.if you stay in the creek channel its actually 3' deep till you hit the cave. At the cave throw your net in front of you an to the right, right at shore you will have plenty of shad https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

He was pretty close. 5" of rain in the gauge here on Prarie Creek in the last 24 hours. PC is running pretty muddy. Not sure how far it extends out into the lake, but I'd guess a good ways. Might get out tomorrow to see. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Feathers and Fins Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 4.10 here at my house in downtown Rogers. Let me know how far it goes out Jeb, Im looking to get out Saturday and see if i can find some stripers after I scout the ducks. I took advantage of a rain day and got the boat 90% ready for Duck Opener. Between that and stringing 14 dozen decoys im a tired boy lol. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jeb Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I wouldn't call it muddy, but pretty stained from about the "beach" launch area on back into the creek. My side imaging was still showing a lot of pods of baitfish all the way back up in there, though. So the bait are still in there. From the beach on out, the water had a little more color in it, but still fairly clear. Tons of baitfish and big arches all through the PC no wake zone and into the mouth of the Avoca Cove. Black bass fishing was tough this morning. Chilly, too. Brrrrr. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
