Feathers and Fins Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 11-10-2010 Best guess’s for Stripers this weekend. We have a Bad Moon rising this weekend and for Day fishermen that can be a death sentence to striper fishing. The night bite should be very good on Rattle-traps and Pencil Poppers. If you have only the day to be fishing I would get shad for bait and pay attention to the graphs and try and scratch out a fish or two. I have reports of many boats in War Eagle Creek striper fishing but no reports of them catching fish sounds like guide boats but the report came from a bass fishing buddy of mine so he was more concentrated on what he was doing then actually staying to see if they were catching anything. So the question is where to start? I would start at Prairie Creek and work my way toward War Eagle looking for clean water and long flats extending off Points. If I located striper marks I wouldn’t leave and expect a late afternoon early evening bite. Try: Prairie Creek, Beaver Shores, The Island in front of Horseshoe Bend, Montne near the ramp and War Eagle Creek. Remember when trolling UNDER 25ft of water GET OFF THE BIG MOTOR all you will do is spook fish and if others are drift fishing live bait you will ruin their chances. Be mobile and be ready for a long day, that full moon messes with the daylight bite. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jeb Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 PC is running clear again. Looks like it's flushing out the dirty water fairly quickly. FWIW. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Feathers and Fins Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 Very Cool. Im launching at 7:30 or so at PC and making a hard run up toward the dam scouting for Ducks and then back to PC to look for the stripers. Hows the shad looking in there? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jeb Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Water was pretty close to normal color in most of PC yesterday morning. Black bass fishing was pretty good in the area. Caught a couple of very nice smallies, too. I ran down to the Ventris area, but the water was pretty stained in areas down there. Some was from the big wind/waves beating the banks, but much of it looked like the mud that came in from the big rains last week. I did see/hear shad and stripers out more in the middle of the PC cove while I was fishing it. Fair number of striper boats back in there and the mouth of the Avoca cove. Me and my "girls" (2 German Shepherds) just tryed to stay out of the way. Good luck hunting. Hope you kill alot of those stinking geese. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Feathers and Fins Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 Dont say stinking Geese im trying to convince a guy they smell good and taste even better. Im up late because no way im running the lake in these winds. Ill be over at PC around 9 or 10 swing on out and say Hi. Im in a Black Tracker with the 90 optimax on the back. It feels like a Live bait day which is getting annoying I want to get back on them with the fly-rod. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members W. Heisenberg Posted November 12, 2011 Members Posted November 12, 2011 Thanks for all the info Jeb and Feathers. Keep us updated on how it goes today, Feathers; we are planning to make the trip from Springfield tomorrow. Good luck!
Stump bumper Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I was down on the bank Friday afternoon, wind was bowing out of the creek hard anf big shad were all near the shore. I hit more black bass than I could keep count of, few keepers but fun. I had one big striper roll on my spoon right next to the shore but could not find it on follow up cast. Down closer to the mouth there were a few fisherman catching whites but I hit more blacks. When the wind died down at sunset so did the bite and my hands were getting too cold to cast. Should be a good day today to find them shallow since there is very little sun and a good strong wind.
jeb Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Went over to Swepco today. Kicked butt, like usual over there. Can't imagine how rough Beaver would have been. Although the PC cove didn't look to bad on the way home. I'm sure you could surf out on the main lake, though. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Feathers and Fins Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 3 stripers a 10, 12 & 20. Surf hell I could have pulled a skier behind the boat with the motor off. TOUGH day with the wind blowing in PC made finding bait very hard and most the marks were on the bottom or near it. They aint left just slowed way down. If we get some windless days things should get good again. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
wc1063 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Met up with F & F at PC around 11:30. Saw him caught a big striper using shad. Did not have any luck today hooking them, but almost caught one using pencil popper(white and red). I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw the monster came up and tried to hit the popper on the surface! Very windy day, started fairly calm and surf start rolling in. Thanks again to F & F for showing us how to catch shad(please be very careful if you are in the very back of the cove looking for shad, it is very shallow and there're stumps everywhere) and how to rig up for stripers, maybe next time I will hook one!!
