Members Wooly Bugger Posted November 23, 2011 Members Posted November 23, 2011 After 15 years, I am in the market for some new waders. With the upcoming ban on felt sole waders in Missouri starting next year, I am being forced to buy another pair. Any suggestions or recommendations? duckydoty Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 You had a pair of wader last 15 years? What brand were they? I would recommend going with the non felt version of them. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
timsfly Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 My Simms G-3's have served me well, not the cheapest out there but very good quality, and I've been wearing the Simms aqua stealth guide boots with the rubber soles, Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Members Iliketoflyfish Posted November 23, 2011 Members Posted November 23, 2011 I agree with Tim. If you do a lot of walk-in style fishing, Simms G-3s are hard to beat (except the price). I've not really seen another pair of waders that have as much reinforced tough material from the knees down, and there is a convertible version of them available now if you don't always need chest-highs. I'd add whichever lightweight (but sturdy), comfortable, reasonably priced boots you can find. They're all good fish. Some are just better than others.
timsfly Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Go over to Hargroves, he will take good care of you, and he might have a good pair of quality lower priced waders, either way he'll take good care of you. 10pointer Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Simms all the way cant beat their guarantee and quality and the customer service is top notch. I have several pair but im really loving my headwaters because i rarely go chest deep most days. Dont get me wrong I love my G3guides but Im more comfortable in my waisthighs. Now all I have to do is send my guide boots to a simms cobbler and get vibrams installed or I might just pick myself up an extra christmas present And as always Tom Hargrove will always get you set up right. Its great to have such a great store like THargrove in the STL area.
JCWolfe Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I have simms pant waders and G4Z simms waders. Definitely plenty of layers at the knee area with the simms full waders. Okiemountaineer
Trout Commander Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Headhunters on line fly shop has the limited edition Simms G3s on sale for $350 through today as part of their Black Friday sale. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
