Leonard Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 hit the water about 9pm... started with a bleeding leech... pick up 4 in 10 minutes (up by chute 2) small fish.. so I decided to move down... I tried the spinning rod for a bit (1 hour) last night... using a rapala silver and black F9.... 1 fish and it was about a 15in bow.... back to the fly and a white unweighted woolly (my favorite!!) with the moon getting ready to go behide the trees... it was on... 12-15 fish.. in the range of 17-18 inches in about 45 minutes ... And one beauty 24in bow..... got pictures but I had my light on when I snapped the pic.. its not all that great. (I'll to load it to see if it clears up) moon dropped behind the trees.. and they shut off for about 10 minutes.. oh yeah I switched flies to... a red blood leech... caught about 7-8 more.. and I was ready to go home Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
Members Brushape Posted September 2, 2006 Members Posted September 2, 2006 Thanks for the fly Leonard, that red blood leach landed a few stocker bows. I'm sure I'll probably see you again sometime, and I'll have something to trade. Picked up two small fish and one 15" rainbow on a black pine squirrel. Even though it was slow fishing, I enjoyed the stretch on my line. Brushape
Micheal Kyle Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Leonard, Glad to here the dubbing you bought from me is working out. I have so much luck on the blood red and evil leperchon. For everybodies info I have ran out but we have reordered the stuff to make the custom mix and it should be back on the wall for sale by the end of next week. I hope that everyone has a safe holiday. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 2, 2006 Root Admin Posted September 2, 2006 Leonard- is that the mix you tied up all those sculpin and wooly buggers for the shop?
Leonard Posted September 2, 2006 Author Posted September 2, 2006 Phil... not sure... I did you a few leeches (and run out) I did some sculpins... but it wasnt the same as used for the leeches.. as for as the woollies.. not sure (dont remember doing any woolies for you) http://www.taneycomonights.com
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 3, 2006 Root Admin Posted September 3, 2006 You called them "blood red and evil leperchon" so I think they are them.
Leonard Posted September 3, 2006 Author Posted September 3, 2006 yes thats them http://www.taneycomonights.com
jdavis Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 I fished last night as well. Caught five fish in two hours. All of them were rainbows and none of any real size. The action slowed down after the moon was gone. Altough the number of fish caught doesn't show it, I did have more strikes last night as compared to the last few weeks. I still seem to be getting a lot of short hits.
Terry Beeson Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 That must have been the light we kept seeing downstream from us last night. Sure didn't have to fight for a spot to fish from 10-1am....
